According to the NY times, King Abdullah of jordan will meet with palestinian president mahmood abbas for peace talks with israel. It's the kings first visit since 1967, right around the time of the first intifada.
This to me is a very ridiculous attempt on Jordans behalf. It has been denying palestinians basic rights since the creation of the refugee camps in jordan. Furthermore, Jordan has had an extremely shady past with the U.S. and Israel, not always supporting their palestinian brothers. It has long been considered a 'sell out' amongst the arab and muslim community with regards to palestine/israel issues. I dont think that Mahmood Abbas will take it very seriously and at the end of the day, jordan has no clout in any matter.
