So, i dont know about you- but when i think about the middle east democracy is a very iffy subject. A lot of countries have attmepted to implement it, but dont really seem to know what they are doing. That definitely applies to Afghanistan, but i tell you- that wasnt always the case.
Check it- heres how it started.
Democracy in Afghanistan began with King Zahir Shah, who governed Afghanistan from 1933-1973. This period of rule under Zahir Shah was the longest period of stability in the history of Afghanistan. Zahir shah emphasized the importance of democracy and freedom to all afghani people. He focused on creating a free and sovereign nation in which the government of Afghanistan and its people were free to choose the decisions and govern them. In 1964, a new constitution under Zahir shah was implemented and transformed Afghanistan into a modern democracy. Zahir Shah instituted programs of political and economic modernization, a new democratic legislature, other programs providing education for women and other such changes.
Case in point- he was a stud.
Today, democracy is used only as a cover up for a corrupt and immoral government. Will it ever change?
